IGW³ Buyer Research · Payments

Choosing gaming payment providers for Brazil

A procurement checklist for Brazil-focused, federally regulated fixed-odds betting operations: account controls, Pix relationships, reconciliation and supplier evidence.

By IGW³ Editorial · Research reviewed

01

Name the exact legal entity and payment role.

02

Check account-ownership and funding controls with qualified advisers.

03

Test deposits, withdrawals and exceptions as one flow.

Decision 01

Start with the regulated activity and legal entities

“Payments in Brazil” is not a complete requirement. State your operating authorisation, legal entity, intended activity and whether you need deposits, withdrawals or both. Ask a candidate to identify its contracting entity, the services it supplies directly and any institution or processor it relies on. Verify the relevant arrangements with official registers and qualified local advisers.

Q1

Which entity will contract with us and handle each part of the flow?

Q2

Can the provider support our specific merchant activity, not just Brazilian consumers?

Decision 02

Understand the Pix arrangement

Ask the provider to explain its role in the payment chain and identify the institution participating in Pix where relevant. The Banco Central participant resource is a starting point for checking the named institution; it does not establish that an intermediary accepts your business. Obtain written confirmation of merchant acceptance, settlement arrangements and each party’s responsibilities.

Q1

Who receives funds, holds balances and executes withdrawals?

Q2

Which institution and support team handle a failed or disputed transfer?

Decision 03

Test account and funding controls

The federal Ministry of Finance’s bettor guidance says payments must move between a registered bettor account and the operator account, with transfers from unregistered accounts returned immediately. Its payment-method guidance distinguishes prepaid or debit funding from prohibited credit or post-paid funding and says operators must not offer credit, including through partners. Have counsel confirm the rules applicable to your operation; then test the controls rather than relying on a payment-method logo.

Q1

How are account details checked and exceptions returned?

Q2

How are unsupported funding routes prevented before a balance is credited?

Decision 04

Separate confirmation, crediting and reconciliation

Design an acceptance test that follows a payment from initiation to confirmation, player-ledger credit and finance reconciliation. Include duplicate notifications, delayed responses, a returned transfer and a withdrawal that needs review. Ask for sample reports with identifiers that let your team trace the same transaction across systems. Agree who may correct a balance and how the correction is audited.

Q1

Which event permits the operator to credit the player ledger?

Q2

Can operations identify and resolve a mismatch without editing records manually?

Decision 05

Qualify support, fraud handling and commercial terms

Ask for the incident escalation process, fraud-review responsibilities and the handling of relevant return mechanisms. Compare settlement timing, reserves, fees, limits and required operating balances using the same volume assumptions. Request a written list of unsupported use cases. Do not interpret a fast technical integration or broad country coverage as regulatory or merchant approval.

Q1

What happens when a payment partner suspends a service or requests more evidence?

Q2

Which fees and limits apply to failed payments, returns and withdrawals?

Decision 06

Keep candidate research separate from approval

The payment company profiles below are starting points for product research, not a list of suppliers confirmed for Brazilian betting. Use Pulse to organise the requirement and evidence gaps. Before contracting, confirm the precise service, institution, merchant acceptance and operating permissions with the provider and your advisers.

Company evidence, not a paid ranking.

These profiles illustrate different products and operating models. Confirm the exact market, service and contract fit before treating any company as a qualified candidate.
